you end up with extremely tall hair and lots of attitude! Man I loved those faux leather snakeskin shoes! Can you believe some people at my conservative Christian college were actually afraid of me? It must have been my mauve awesomeness that intimidated them.
What were you donning or doing in 1988?

I'm often intimidated by your mauve awesomeness.... he he
This is a totally awesome 80s photo! I can't decide which is cracking me up more -- the hair or the outfit. You get LOTS of brownie points for posting this. By 1988 I was working at a law firm and wearing those ugly floppy bow ties and manly power suits and wondering if my Flashdance years were behind me yet.
The 80s didn't have a huge impact on my life. Oh, except for the cartoons. 80s cartoons were stinkin' great!!!! So why am I commenting? Because you 80s people had "something" going on!! Seriously, people of the 80s are intense passionate people about an era that I barely like. You guys really are awesome!! Maybe that's why my coming of age years were a decade later. I didn't have what it took to be an 80s girl. Ya, that's probably it.
Ah, the Shannon I knew and loved . . . Miss Wall O' Hair! You never scared ME, but I wore boys boxer shorts over leggings, an amazingly tangled permed with African braids tied in, and as many Kenyan bracelets as my skinny little arm could support, so who I am to judge?
I like to think you were big city cool and I was Cali-Kenya cool.
I'm not even going to bother with the HA'S and BAH'S and general shouts of shock and joy over that photo. WOW. That was AWESOME. You did the 80's right!! Be proud.
Ok, I never had the Wall-O-Hair, but I did the Wings-O-Hair. I used to take mousse and put it in my hair right above my ears so that the hair would create these caves over my ears. Ah...memories. And, I must say that the music of the early 80's is some of my favorite! Takes me back...
They're still talking about you in Dumas Texas with the tall hair, patterned leggings and boxer shorts that said "Groovy, Marsha" on the rear. (No one in the Pizza Hut could eat for staring).
Yea! I was not scared of you! I loved you and secretly wished I could wear my hair like that. ha ha I was wearing leggings and big shirts. Long hair that I crimped or wore in random styles.
Well I looked just like you until you did the wall of hair. I always admired your ability to do whatever with your hair. Love the photo. That is great.
Arl
I had a very tall blonde afro. I believe I also wore acid washed denim from head to toe.
Charlie
Oh, you WERE taking yourself very seriously, weren't ya?! That's a great shot.
I was sportin' overalls and hightops, as evidenced in a pic I posted on my blog in November. Why? I don't know...

So good to hear from you guys!!
Yeah I wasn't ACTUALLY scary or serious. I could only take myself serious long enough for the camera to snap! I have a hard time with long bouts of seriousness. I could be scary looking but when people heard me talk they knew the gig was up!
I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THE GROOVY MARSHA BOXER SHORTS MIMS!! Baha. As only a rebel teen would I thought they stared because I looked so goood. ;)
Uh, yeah, Adelia, we were born in the 80s, so we kind missed all of those groovy outfits that the teens and young adults donned. Still, I remember New Kids on the Block (was that 80s or 90s)and leg warmers. Never watched cartoons, so I guess I missed out on the awesomeness. Fred owns He-Man now, though.
My tiny baby friends didn't have crazy hairdos yet in '88. And what hair they had was in piggy tails! :D
I was wearing power suits and high heels, living and working in Sydney, supporting my then husband while he went through pilot training with boeing. I had long blonde hair in those days, usually tucked away in an "up" do. Hee hee. You looked stunning even then dear Shan but I have to say that I like your 21st century look these days!
heh heh... okay, Shan...here I am in 1988: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=88783&id=584696257&l=da9a6
Oh, Shan!
Oh, my.

Well I think thatis one scary hair style! hehehe
well done, sugar! well done! in '88? i think i was doing the corporate-i-can-do-it-all-even-with-4-kids look! ;) i'll have to ask supernana...i vaguely remember linda dano hair ;) xoxox
totally tubular, shan! my favorite part of the pic is the way you're wearing your stirrup pants with the stirrup rebelliously not around your foot! you ARE the 80s.
