Showin' the luuuv.

Here's what I woke up to on Valentines day morning:

There were cards...

And homemade paper flowers in a paper wrapped vase....

Oh yes, and homemade wrapping paper around my present....which was a hands free phone cord for my latest celly.  You can picture that part yourself.

That evening, we went to dinner in a neighboring town and had some delicious Mexi food together. (I don't take pics of EVERY meal we eat so imagine 4 hogs(one with a red wig)at a trough for this part, because that's a pretty accurate mental image.

All together it was quite a delightful day.

On Sunday it was my turn to show my Valentine a less greedy side of myself (which would be my right, no doubt, because I'm a lefty).  So, with the help of my darling friend Jenna, who offered to keep the chaps-sweet thang that she is- I took my fellow to see his other true love....

SUSHI!!!!  EEEEEEEK!!!  I don't even eat COOKED fish(gagging sounds)!!!!!!!!!!!
But since he made me those pretty flowers, I turned off the flop sweat and tried a vegetable sushi roll with soy paper wrapping and something called "crunch" on the outside.  Let me tell you right now non suchi eaters, this stuff was absolutely delicious!!  I might even be able to crave it from time to time and join the sushi revolution currently in progress. If I could just master those chopsticks a bit more...
After making the waitress take our picture, we finished the evening at the nearby bookstore with coffee and zero children in tow.  Pure relaxation.

So, there's a story that only family and hopeless romantics can appreciate.  Girl feels loved.  Girl attempts sacrifice for love.  Girl avoids seafood disaster.  Girl goes to Barnes and Noble with her love.  Girl realizes she has made no sacrifice at all-typical.  Girl loves boy....still.

I hope your weekend was just as satisfying.

Shan, what a wonderful Valentines.
All your men (big and little) love you, and rightly so.
Nice to see Jamey has great taste in food as well as women and music. What a guy!
And good to see you eating veggie sushi! Yay for you!

Sounds like a perfect Valentines Weekend! My Jason loves sushi too while I hardly eat anything that swims in the sea period! I have found that I like Cucumber rolls and vegetable tempura and I even crave it sometimes. :-) I have sampled a couple of his loves but have yet to find a strong craving for those!
Glad you had a good time, by the way, you look FABULOUS! :-)

We love sushi in our house...well, let me clarify. We love California Rolls which have no fishies in them. And, since leaving Chicago for this sushi-forsaken mountain villa, I really miss sushi.

You did sacrifice, your comfort zone, by going into sushi-land (the opposite of Shansland.) You deserved all of the cards. etc and much more, we do love you very much!! Thanks for the fun night and for being who you are. XOXOX

Thanks Dive. I do have some sweet fellas of all sizes in my house. I can't wait for the reveal with your valentine's news! Heh heh heh very exciting indeed!

Bekah, I always put a "c" in your name and only sometimes take it back out again. Oopsie. I'm glad we have such sweet fellas who are each so good at the pampering. I'm glad you gave me some more ideas of things to eat at Suchi house etc.

Hi Kim! So California rolls are something to look out for? Jamey had a Red Dragon or something fierce like that. I like the local sound of your favorite. teehee

And yes Valentino, I tried to be sacrificial for you. I was glad that it worked out and we had a great night. It was nice getting out of the ole zone even if it was only only as daring as the vegetables on my plate. Baha Probably have to start somewhere. XOXOX

Shan this was pure delight to read! The photo of you looking shocked at the plate of sushi in front of you is classic! You're very brave to try it, and I'm glad to hear you liked it! I don't like all sushi, but sometimes I do get a craving (and luckily I live in CA where I can get good sushi all the time). Looks like you had a delightful Valentine's Day with all your guys around you. You're one lucky lady that's for sure! Happy Belated Valentine's Day to you and yours!

Hey travelin gal :). Yep, I'm blessed by my boys and feel loved by them every day. As for the "classic" shot, I have a whole repertoire of equally scary faces that I can pull at any given time. Occasionally I like to whip one out on my blog friends just to keep you on your toes. Ahee.
I'm glad you spent the weekend doing what you love-vacationing! :)

Goodness J looks sharp in that velvet get up. Glad you guys had such a great time! Where'd you come up with a "c" for sushi? Is that the real way??? Have I been wrong all this time?

Well isn't that strange Trisha? Thank you for pointing that out as my spellcheck never bothered! I guess it's cool to spell it however you want if you aren't too into it. I don't know. BAH! I noticed I had both spellings in my not-so-grammatically-correct post so that's funny huh?
Oh and yes, that's a cool jacket that simply screams artist office casual when worn over a tee. :) He does look smart in it. PROFESSA!!

I'm glad I could help a little on the LOVE FEST 2009 not to be mistaken with the ICE STORM 2009 (which is the complete opposite and more like what we had in our home)

Heehee, Just Kidding Jay, I Luv you man!
